Freddie Schnickelfritz Fisher

He said he went into novelty because mistakes could be covered up. That was Freddie Fisher, an Iowa native who strted on the road to fame at the Sugar Loaf Tavern in Winona, Minnesota. Playing Polkas and Waltzes, the band started including novelty and soon they were traveling all over the country and recording for Decca.
Rudy Vallee saw the group and had them included in his movie Goldiggers in Paris. Shortly thereafter Freddie went into a rage blaming the tuba player for screwing up (members of the group swear it was Freddie who screwed up) and that evening over a meal the piano player came to Charlie's defense and there was a breaking up of the group with most going to form the Korn Kobblers. Freddie got new people - most notably George Rock who later became Spike Jones' trumpet player - but the glory days were behind him.
Retiring as a fix-it man in Aspen, Colorado, Freddie picked up the clarinet once more and entertained there for many years going back to his musical roots.

Members of the band included...
Freddie Fisher - woodwinds, vocals
Stan Fritts - trombone, vocals (left in 1939 to form Korn Kobblers)
Nels Laasko - trumpet (left in 1939 to form Korn Kobblers)

George Rock - trumpet (replaced Nels Laasko)
