When the Hot Shots First went to Hollywod to make movies, Carol, Frank's daughter, was there watching the films being made. Even at the ripe old age of four she became a movie critic. In her opinion, most of those guys in the western's just couldn't act too well.

Les Adams, co-author of Shoot-em Ups provided the bulk of the information for the movies. Without him there would be very few pages to check out.

The HOOSIER HOT SHOTS
Movies

Movies made the Hoosier Hotshots. Traveling, by train, back and forth was a bit too much so our boys made California their home. The bulk of the movies were made with Columbia Pictures but Republic, Paramount and Lipert also put out Hot Shots films. Though Ken claimed 23 films we can only find 21 (a Republic feature called Thubs Up, for instance, had a Hot Shots group but not the Hoosier Hot Shots). The boys were supposed to make a movie with Bob Burns but after watching the film an agonizing 4 time I can assure Ken, Paul, Frank and Gabe weren't there - maybe they ended up on the cutting room floor. Ken also says they made a movie for Mirish Brothers but we can find no evidence of it. As you go through the films you'll find names like Bob Wills, Nat King Cole, Jimmy Wakely, Carolina Cotton, Ken Curtis, Robert Alda, Tom Tyler, Pinky Tomlin, Jay Silverheels, even Robert Benchley.

19 of the 21 movies are available on video from Hezzie.com. We've arranged the movies from the 1939 debut with Gene Autry to the 1950 ending with Robert Alda. For more information on any of the movies just click on any of the images below.
