The HOOSIER HOT SHOTS

HOOSIER HOT SHOTS TV, SOUNDIES and RADIO

The boys made their name in radio but TV and soundies were in the picture, too. So much was lost and so much was live on TV and radio. Where we can find references and preserved material, you'll find it here.

SOUNDIES

HOOSIER HOT SHOTS ON TV

The early medium of TV was perfect for the visual humor of the Hot Shots. Being live in nature little was preserved and few records kept.

HOOSIER HOT SHOTS RADIO

From their unpaid start at WOWO through their network show on Mutual, the Hot Shots were radio's corncert kings. As we uncover information on appearances we'll list them but since radio was a live medium, most of the performances are lost forever.
Let's start with the show that made them famous.
WLS National Barn Dance On NBC (1933-46)
The Barn Dance predated its most sucessful imitator, The Grand Ole Opry, by a year but we start our history with the arrival of the Hot Shots. Sharing the stage with our boys were such luminaries as PAt Butram, George Gobel, Gene Autry (the boys later worked in his wild west show), Lulu Belle and Scotty, Red Foley, and a list that goes on and on. The Hoosier Hot Shots joined the Barn Dance in 1933 (a trio then) and continued on into the mid 40s. Selected shows listed here.
