A
pile of junk is transformed into an orchestra. When I go for a walk,
it’s a musical walk on the wild
side. In
our throwaway world of urban trash, where everything quickly becomes
obsolete, I
create an orchestra by recycling. A pair of hands, a bit of imagination,
and whatever you find -- an
old ironing board, bottles, plastic pipes, car parts, tin cans, even the
top half of a flushing toilet becomes musical.
These are all that you need to create unforgettable magical sounds.
The possibilities are endless; the Gods of Garbage are bountiful. My
One-Man Band Performance Wizardry,
humor, story-telling, and theatre skills -- these are the building blocks
of my performance.
Ukuleles, banjos, washboards, kazoos, jugs, teapots, a tin bathtub
one string bass, a suit case bass drum, even my teeth
-- are all used to create an interactive show that
has the magic to stir up in both adults and kids, the desire to put their
hands on the instruments and begin making music. By the end of the show,
volunteers, with a little bit of guidance, are playing along with me a
rousing version of “Oh When the Saints Go Marching In”. My
One Man Band Performance is a unique educational and emotional experience:
audiences learn a little bit about their environment, how to build and
play a musical instrument. In the course of an hour participants have
been introduced to a wide variety of music: from the haunting beat of the
Native American Indians to Jazz, Jug, Blues, Folk, Country and Rock. Other
formats include Gospel to Classical, Klezmer, and world music. Adults can also enjoy the fun. Creating
different themed shows to cater for varying tastes and ages, I appear
regularly at, corporate events, clubs and pubs, art galleries, festivals,
museums, theatres, old
people homes and private parties in both Jewish and Arab communities.
Based on the One Man Band Show, Paul has developed a unique and special Musical Experience, an interactive show for the Physically and Mentally Challenged, which he performs at institutions for all ages throughout Israel. Facts and Figures: Duration: 45 - 60 minutes Language: In April 2001 Paul became the only One Man Band in the world to be hosted by the “Israel Philharmonic Orchestra”. Playing in Israel’s Carnegie Hall, “Heichal Ha tarboot”, he performed in a series of concerts about American music called “Music From the New World”. The series was produced and hosted by the eminent Israeli musicologist and pianist, Dr. Asterit Baltzan. The event was televised and broadcast on Israel National Television. |
